Job Summary

Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian is seeking a skilled Radiation Therapist II to join our healthcare team. As a key member of our radiation oncology department, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and effective delivery of radiation therapy to patients with cancer.

About the Job

Salary: $52,610 - $80,860 per hour (based on experience and qualifications)

The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills, a commitment to patient-centered care, and excellent communication abilities. As a Radiation Therapist II, you will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care and achieve optimal treatment outcomes.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Deliver high doses of ionizing radiation treatment to patients in accordance with prescription and instructions from Radiation Oncologists.
  2. Ensure all protocols and best practices are followed prior and during the delivery of treatment and evaluate the patient daily for any untoward effects, reaction, and therapeutic responses.
  3. Independently operate Agility, VersaHD, or TomoHD (including warm-up, shutdown, and machine operation).
  4. Participate in decisions about appropriate simulation technique and treatment positions.
  5. Verify treatment plans and mathematical accuracy of prescriptions and daily treatment summaries.
  6. Produce quality imaging for optimal viewing results.
  7. Adhere to all radiation safety rules and minimize patient exposure during CT imaging procedures.
  8. Evaluate and ensure quality of block fabrication.
  9. Determine when to withhold treatment until a physician is contacted and establish the course of action in emergency or problem situations.
  10. Provide patient and family education on radiation therapy procedures and self-care practices.
  11. Maintain electronic documentation of quality assurance activities, procedures, and results according to guidelines.
  12. Participate in the continuous quality improvement process.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements

Education:

An Associate's Degree (Bachelor's Degree preferred)

Licenses:

Licensed by the California Department of Health Services as a Radiologic Technologist (Therapeutic) and licensed by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiation Therapy or equivalent as recognized by the ARRT

Certifications:

Current Basic Life Support (BLS), approved by the American Heart Association
