Nurse Practitioner Role in South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice

The State of South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse II to join our team. This role plays a critical part in providing direct nursing care to juveniles receiving services at one of our secure facilities. As a nurse, you will be responsible for administering medications, documenting patient information, and maintaining a safe and sanitary environment.
Job Summary
We are offering an exceptional compensation package, with a salary range of $79,243 - $104,000 per year. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits program that includes health, dental, and vision insurance, as well as 15 days of annual leave and 13 paid holidays. You will also have access to state retirement plan options and deferred compensation programs.
About the Position
This Registered Nurse II position requires a bachelor's degree in nursing or an associate degree in nursing. If you hold a diploma in nursing, you must have at least two years of relevant clinical experience. A valid driver's license is also required. As a registered nurse in this role, you will work under the supervision of a Nurse Administrator/Manager I or II and participate in annual performance reviews. Your duties will include safely administering medications, documenting patient information, and maintaining a safe and sanitary environment.
Responsibilities

- Safely administering medications and treatments as ordered by a physician or nurse practitioner.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of patient interactions.
- Developing and implementing individualized care plans in collaboration with other healthcare professionals.
- Providing health education to patients and their families.
- Assisting with orientation, training, and education of new staff members.
Requirements
To be considered for this position, you must meet the following requirements:
- Licensed to practice as a registered nurse in South Carolina.
- Bachelor's degree in nursing or associate degree in nursing.
- Two years of relevant clinical experience (if holding a diploma in nursing).
- Valid driver's license.
