Job Summary

As a Rehabilitation Technician at Rimrock, you will play a vital role in providing therapeutic supervision to patients after program hours and assisting Medical Unit staff and counselors as delegated. Your responsibilities will include screening and referral services for detoxification services, ensuring adherence to state statutes and rules, CARF standards, and federal regulations, including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2. You will also be responsible for positively representing the organization and promoting Rimrock's Mission to the community.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide therapeutic supervision to assigned patients, including rounds at residential sites to ensure security and maintenance of program schedules.
  2. Report all incidents, unusual events, and emergencies immediately to the Supervisor and nurse on duty, according to Rimrock's policies and procedures.
  3. Assist patients with therapy and task assignments as needed.
  4. Ensure that Behavioral Observation Forms are utilized appropriately to document patient care issues.
  5. Monitor all visitors and ensure that no contraband is brought into the facility by visitors or patients.
  6. Administer drug screen protocol for patients.
  7. Provide Motivational Enhancement Therapy to detox patients, as assigned, or provide other educational lectures or activities when assigned.
  8. Monitor ED patients and program.
  9. Attend all scheduled staff meetings and in-services.
  10. Follow guidelines under the code of conduct section in the employee handbook.
  11. Assist with food service and patient supervision in the dining room.
  12. Monitor patient breaks.
  13. Comply with regular, predictable, and reliable attendance.
  14. Train new employees after completion of RT II requirements.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned.
Safety-Related Duties
  1. Transport patients to outside activities in a safe and prudent manner, observing all driving laws and Rimrock's policies, and maintain driving logs. Immediately report any mechanical problems to the Supervisor.
  2. Provide regular rounds to ensure the security of facilities, ensuring doors are locked and alarms set after hours.
  3. Ensure all incident report forms are filled out according to Rimrock's policies.
  4. Be familiar with emergency procedures.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need a high school diploma or GED, knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to communicate and work with patients with addictions. You must also be able to attend monthly departmental sessions and in-services, view non-violent crisis intervention tapes/videos, and attend related training. Additionally, you must be able to complete 4 hours of CEU training annually and meet the requirements for the career ladder.

Certifications and Licenses

A valid driver's license is required, and CPR and First Aid training certification is preferred. You must also be insurable through agency insurance to operate a company vehicle.

Skills

You will need strong communication skills, the ability to take direction and work adjunctively with the therapeutic team, and the ability to provide empathy and compassion to patients with addiction. You must also be proficient in Microsoft software, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Physical Demands

The work environment is indoors in an office setting with moderate noise. You will be required to lift up to 25 pounds, walk, and stand for approximately 70% of the time, with the remaining 30% spent sitting. Normal vision abilities are required, including close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
