Job Summary:The Transit Operator will be responsible for providing safe and reliable transportation services to individuals with various health concerns, as well as general public passengers. This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work independently and adapt to changing situations.
Key Responsibilities:- Transport passengers safely and efficiently in all road and weather conditions.
- Develop and manage daily routes based on preliminary pick-up schedules, making adjustments as needed to meet client needs.
- Interface with healthcare staff and other stakeholders to ensure seamless transportation services.
- Handle difficult situations with passengers, including those with physical and psychological needs.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment, reporting any issues to maintenance staff.
- Collect fares and tickets, and use proper radio procedures and "10" codes.
- Administer first aid and clean up blood and bodily fluids as needed.
- Assist passengers with groceries, packages, and personal belongings.
- Guide and instruct bus aides, when assigned.
- Adhere to all written schedules and Agency/Division specific policies and procedures.
- High School Diploma or equivalent, and a CDL, Class B, license with air brake and passenger endorsement.
- A minimum of one year's experience transporting passengers, or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
- Must meet USDOT drug testing requirements.
