JOB SUMMARY

The Mechanical Quality Assurance Inspector plays a crucial role in ensuring product compliance with established standards through meticulous evaluations against customer and engineering specifications. This position involves coordinating inspections at various stages, including receiving, in-process, and final product assessments, while documenting findings in the Quality System Network.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Possess fundamental knowledge of mechanical and mathematical inspection techniques.
  • Proficient in utilizing various inspection tools such as micrometers, thread gauges, dial indicators, calipers, and height gauges.
  • Ensure the proper functioning of measurement instruments by adhering to operational guidelines.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of GD&T, blueprint reading, and specification interpretation.
  • Comply with quality management systems and protocols, including training, policies, procedures, and document control.
  • Assist Engineering and Manufacturing teams in investigating non-conformities.
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment by following established procedures and regulations.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS / ATTRIBUTES
  • Experience with GD&T is essential.
  • Familiarity with CMM programming (PCDMIS) and operation; experience with optical CMM is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of inspection equipment including micrometers, calipers, optical tools, and micro heights.
  • Extensive experience in software and database testing, including test data design, validation of stored jobs, and error replication.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to develop test plans and cases based on specifications or verbal instructions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with developers, project managers, and customer support teams.
  • Robust analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience in Quality Assurance.

• Experience in the aerospace sector or familiarity with AS9100 standards is preferred.

• Experience in programming and operating a CMM is required.

• High school diploma or GED is mandatory.

• Lean Manufacturing experience is a plus.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, and to interpret instructions professionally.
  • Capability to perform basic mathematical calculations and apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions in practical scenarios.
  • Skill in defining problems, gathering data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions from technical instructions.
PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, or walk for the duration of shifts, typically 8-10 hours.
  • Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, or bend.
  • Regularly lift, push, or pull weights up to 20 pounds, and occasionally up to 40 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, with the necessity for 20/20 vision or corrected vision.
  • Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts.
  • Occasionally required to work on the production floor as part of job responsibilities.
  • Noise levels in the work environment may be loud, necessitating hearing protection.
