Role Purpose:
The Registered Nurse (RN) is accountable for delivering patient care that ensures the safety and well-being of all individuals under their care. In a Charge Nurse capacity, the RN may be responsible for staff assignments as directed. This role involves providing guidance and support to team members, including LPNs, CNAs, and non-licensed staff, while also delivering direct patient care, assisting in the orientation of new staff, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to address patient needs.
Operational Coordination:
The RN will assist in managing the operations of the nursing unit during their shift, working under the supervision of the Nurse Manager and in compliance with the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act.
Communication Skills:
Proficiency in both verbal and written communication is essential. The RN must be capable of utilizing a personal computer effectively and should be prepared to stand and walk for extended periods. Physical capabilities include lifting, pushing, bending, and carrying loads up to 50 pounds, as well as the ability to lift and reposition patients.
Emotional Resilience:
The RN must maintain focus and concentration despite frequent interruptions and demonstrate emotional maturity, functioning effectively under stress.
Educational Requirements:
A graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing is required. An Associate's Degree in Nursing is the minimum requirement, while a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is preferred.
Experience:
Preferred candidates will have at least one year of experience in a hospital or medically related environment, with experience in Radiology being highly desirable.
Licensure and Certifications:
The RN must be registered and licensed by the State of Georgia. Current certification in CPR is required, or completion of a CPR course (AHA) within 60 days of employment. ACLS certification is also required, or it must be obtained within 90 days of employment. PALS certification is preferred.
Work Environment:
Effective communication skills are crucial, along with the ability to operate a personal computer. The RN must be capable of standing and walking for extended periods and handling physical tasks as outlined. Concentration and emotional stability are necessary to perform effectively in this role.
