Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Heating and Refrigeration Mechanic Lead to join our team at the State of Tennessee. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for leading a small group of Heating and Refrigeration Mechanics and performing a wide range of maintenance and repair tasks on heating and refrigeration systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of Heating and Refrigeration Mechanics in performing maintenance and repair tasks on heating and refrigeration systems.
  • Perform semi-skilled and skilled heating and refrigeration mechanical work of considerable difficulty, including leading others in work.
  • Repair and maintain electronic equipment, including heating and refrigeration equipment and controls.
  • Analyze data and information to determine the nature and extent of heating and refrigeration problems.
  • Ensure that heating and refrigeration work is performed in accordance with codes and standards.
  • Monitor tool and material controls on projects for safety, security, and accountability.
  • Prioritize daily and weekly work and activities plans to meet the priorities of the organization and safety requirements.
  • Estimate materials and parts needed for projects and repairs.
  • Provide recommendations to supervisory staff and management on the repair and replacement of heating and refrigeration components and equipment.
  • Perform inspections on heating and refrigeration equipment and facilities.
  • Operate vehicles and mechanized equipment in the performance of work.
Requirements
  • Experience equivalent to four years of increasingly responsible and skilled full-time heating and refrigeration mechanical work.
  • 110 clock hours of coursework at trade, technical, or vocational school in heating and/or air conditioning/refrigeration mechanics may be substituted for one month of the required experience.
  • A valid vehicle operator's license may be required for employment in some positions.
  • Some positions require applicants to be certified with an EPA Universal Certification under Section 608 of the Clean Air Act.
