POSITION OVERVIEW

Modern Government Solutions (MGS) is in search of a dedicated and skilled Senior Systems Developer to enhance our team in the Herndon, VA area. This role involves leveraging advanced development capabilities to tackle intricate technical challenges and implement new features as requested by our clients, paving the way for a fulfilling career within our organization.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Design and refine custom software solutions for financial systems.
  • Evaluate problem reports and create precise timelines for solution development.
  • Thoroughly document software code for clarity and accuracy.
  • Assist business analysts and testers in identifying discrepancies.
  • Consistently and accurately update progress within software development tools.
  • Contribute to program documentation for design and solution components.
  • Guide junior developers and oversee development tasks as necessary.
  • Regularly utilize office productivity equipment, including computers and printers.
  • Engage in frequent communication with colleagues, management, and clients, which may include delivering presentations.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must possess an active Department of Defense Secret security clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in systems development, finance, or a related field.
  • Alternatively, 4 years of relevant work experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in C++ development.
  • 2+ years of experience with webMethods.
  • 4+ years of Java programming experience.
  • 3+ years of experience crafting complex SQL queries.
  • Familiarity with Momentum Financial Management software.
  • Experience in an Oracle RDBMS environment.
  • Exposure to large-scale ERP development solutions.
  • Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Willingness to navigate between buildings as required.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Capacity to manage stress with professionalism and maturity.
  • Proven critical thinking and leadership abilities.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience with Momentum 8.x architecture (OpenShift Container Platform, JBoss, ActiveMQ).
  • 2+ years of experience in Javascript.
  • 1+ year of experience in a Linux development environment.
  • Familiarity with BIRT Report Designer.
  • Basic understanding of federal financial systems.
  • Knowledge of the SAP Business Objects tool suite.
  • Experience using JIRA.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and manage shifting priorities to meet deadlines.
