We are seeking a highly skilled Global Environment Expert to join our team at the World Bank in Washington, DC. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the bank's efforts in promoting sustainable development and addressing global environmental challenges.

About the Role

This role will focus on facilitating effective engagement with Indigenous Peoples and local communities (IPLCs) by the GEF family of funds and the GEF partnership. The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing projects and programs relevant to IPLCs, collecting and analyzing data related to IPLC participation, creating opportunities to build capacity among GEF staff on IPLC issues, and serving as a primary point of contact for stakeholders on IPLC-related matters.

Main Responsibilities
  • Supporting GEF staff to improve practice, policy, and strategy to increase participation of IPLCs
  • Reviewing projects and programs of high relevance for IPLCs
  • Collecting and analyzing data related to IPLC participation in GEF projects
  • Creating opportunities to build the capacity of GEF staff on IPLC issues
  • Serving as a primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders on issues related to IPLCs
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have a Master's degree in environmental studies, anthropology, or a related field, with a minimum of three years of professional experience in fields such as environment, Indigenous Peoples and local communities (IPLC), international development, or other relevant areas.

Location and Salary

This position is based in Washington, DC, and comes with a competitive salary range of $90,000 - $110,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
