Job Summary

Fenway Health is seeking a part-time Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to provide outpatient psychiatric services to adults. The ideal candidate will have a graduate degree from a certified Psychiatric NP program, current Massachusetts license, and 2 years of outpatient experience as a certified NP. The successful candidate will be able to work effectively with ethnically, culturally, racially, and gender diverse clients and have a demonstrated understanding of the intersectional impacts of racism, homophobia, transphobia, sexism, ableism, classism, and other forms of oppression.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct psychopharmacological services to Fenway clients
  • Perform psychiatric evaluations using established format and complete written documentation within 2 business days
  • Assume responsibility for evaluation and follow-up of clients' psychopharmacological status and complete documentation within 2 business days of the client's appointment (within one day for urgent care appointments)
  • Provide on-call backup psychiatry coverage and respond to calls in a timely manner
  • Participate in activities designed to maintain and enhance the quality of the Behavioral Health department's programs and services
  • Remain knowledgeable regarding issues of assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning
  • Attend and actively participate in psychiatry team meetings
  • Participate in diagnostic formulations and develop treatment plans for clients in coordination with the team
  • Represent Fenway's Psychiatric Services to the external community
  • Facilitate the department's relationships with hospitals and provide telephone consultations as needed for Fenway clients
  • Participate in the education and training of staff
  • Meet Agency Participatory Expectations
  • Suggest and participate in continuing quality improvement efforts
  • Adhere to all agency and departmental policies and procedures
  • Participate in quality assessment and improvement activities as requested
  • Adhere to the highest principles of patient and client confidentiality
  • Adhere to established safety policies, procedures, and precautions
  • Attend all required meetings, in-services, and professional trainings
  • Attend all regularly scheduled research meetings, trainings, forums, and pertinent FCH staff meetings
  • Maintain professional competence necessary to perform job responsibilities
  • Serve on agency committees and in professional organizations as requested
Requirements
  • Graduate degree from a certified Psychiatric NP program
  • Current Massachusetts license
  • 2 years of outpatient experience as a certified NP
  • Ability to complete documentation accurately and on time and to maintain current client care documentation
  • Proficiency in psychiatric assessment/evaluation
  • Experience with or strong interest in the LGBTQIA+ community, HIV, trauma, and substance abuse
  • Demonstrated capacity to work effectively with ethnically, culturally, racially, and gender diverse clients
  • Demonstrated understanding of the intersectional impacts of racism, homophobia, transphobia, sexism, ableism, classism, and other forms of oppression
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to be an effective team member
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and ability to multitask
Preferred Qualifications
  • Lived and/or professional experience with BIPOC individuals, LGBTQIA+ issues, HIV, and trauma
  • Bilingual Spanish/English
