Medication Aide Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Medication Aide to join our team at Lakewood Retirement Community-LifeSpire. As a Medication Aide, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to our residents, ensuring their safety and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer medications in accordance with accepted practices and regulations.
  • Document all medications administered in the Medication Administration Record (MAR).
  • Check and record vital signs, weights, and blood sugars as ordered.
  • Provide assistance with activities of daily living, including bathing, oral care, toileting, dressing, and transferring residents.
  • Assist with heavy lifting, transferring, and use of proper equipment according to policy and physicians' orders.
Requirements:
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Current registration as a Medication Aide and Nurse Aide in good standing issued by the Virginia Board of Nursing.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including customer service, patience, empathy, and compassion.
  • Good collaboration and teamwork skills.
  • Fast and adaptive problem-solving abilities.
  • In-depth understanding of patient care policies and regulations.
  • Familiarity with symptoms and signs of improvement for various medical conditions.
