Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is currently on the lookout for a Principal Test Engineer to support our SiAW program initiatives in Northridge, CA.

Note: This position mandates that the selected candidate work on-site in Northridge, CA. Remote work is not authorized for this role.

The selected candidate will collaborate with a team of test engineers to execute system-level evaluations to validate requirements for the SiAW development program. This role encompasses the formulation and upkeep of test plans, procedures, and reports with minimal oversight, alongside the generation of test reports to document outcomes. The candidate will engage in a cross-functional team to synchronize testing efforts among program stakeholders and communicate test results. This position necessitates travel to support the testing program of the SiAW contract.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Craft executable test plans that address technical specification verification requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal and external clients to define and document instrumentation, data requirements, and test planning, including acquisition, processing, and analysis to meet test objectives.
  • Conduct data collection, reduction, and communication to verification requirement stakeholders.
  • Oversee data summarization, distribution, and authorship of test reports.
  • Exhibit proficiency in test planning and result communication using tools such as Word and PowerPoint to facilitate briefings that convey test results and future directions.
  • Continuously enhance processes to address deficiencies and implement best practices.
  • Develop and maintain test plans, test data, test reports, and test procedures.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field AND a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience OR a master's degree in engineering or a related field AND a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficient in utilizing Logic Analyzers, Software-Based Debugging tools, In-Circuit Emulators, RF Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, and Signal Generators.
  • Able to communicate effectively and clearly to present technical approaches and findings.
  • Able to work independently with minimal direction and serve as a team lead for larger test initiatives.
  • Capability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government issued Secret clearance within a timeframe established by management.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active DoD Secret Clearance with periodic reinvestigation within the last five (5) years.
  • Experience with missile products.
  • Experience in systems engineering efforts in system/subsystem development.
  • Experience with systems designs utilizing Model-Based Systems Engineering.
  • Experience in Weapon Open System Architecture (WOSA).
  • Experience in digital engineering.

Salary Range: $97,500 - $146,300
The above salary range serves as a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers various factors when determining base salary offers, including the scope and responsibilities of the position, as well as the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions and allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may qualify for Long Term Incentives.
