Position Overview:

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is actively seeking a Principal Test Engineer to contribute to our SiAW program initiatives in Northridge, CA.

Note: This position mandates that the selected candidate work on-site in Northridge, CA. Remote work is not authorized for this role.

The selected candidate will collaborate with a team of test engineers to execute system-level evaluations to validate requirements for the SiAW development program. This role encompasses the development and maintenance of test plans, procedures, and reports with minimal oversight, as well as the creation of test documentation to capture results. The candidate will engage in cross-functional teamwork to synchronize testing efforts among program stakeholders and document test outcomes. This position will necessitate travel to support the SiAW contract's testing program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate executable test plans addressing technical specification verification requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal and external clients to define and document instrumentation, data needs, and test planning, including acquisition, processing, and analysis to meet testing objectives.
  • Conduct data collection, reduction, and communication to verification requirement stakeholders.
  • Oversee data summarization, distribution, and authorship of test reports.
  • Exhibit proficiency in test planning and result communication tools such as Word and PowerPoint to facilitate customer briefings on test results and future directions.
  • Continuously enhance processes to rectify deficiencies and implement best practices.
  • Develop and maintain test plans, test data, test reports, and test procedures.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field AND a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience OR a master's degree in engineering or a related field AND a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficient in utilizing Logic Analyzers, Software-Based Debugging tools, In-Circuit Emulators, RF Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, and Signal Generators.
  • Able to communicate effectively and clearly to present technical methodologies and findings.
  • Capable of working independently with minimal guidance and serving as a team lead for larger testing initiatives.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government issued Secret clearance within a timeframe established by management.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active DoD Secret Clearance with periodic reinvestigation within the last five (5) years.
  • Experience with missile products.
  • Experience in systems engineering for system/subsystem development.
  • Familiarity with systems designs utilizing Model-Based Systems Engineering.
  • Experience in Weapon Open System Architecture (WOSA).
  • Knowledge in digital engineering.

Salary Range: $97,500 - $146,300
The salary range provided serves as a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers various factors when determining base salary offers, including the scope and responsibilities of the position, as well as the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.

Employees may qualify for a discretionary bonus in addition to base compensation. Annual bonuses are intended to reward individual contributions and allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director roles may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. Additionally, Northrop Grumman offers a variety of benefits, including health insurance, life and disability insurance, savings plans, company-paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and personal business.
