Your Role:
The Lone Wolf Team is dedicated to supporting, operating, and maintaining a Department of Defense (DoD) integrated global communications network that enhances collaboration among senior leadership and key personnel.
As a Senior Information Systems Security Officer, you will act as the principal authority in cybersecurity risk management and governance, focusing on the integration of various cyber disciplines, including mission assurance and supply chain risk management. You will collaborate closely with the Cybersecurity Manager, Information Systems Security Engineers, and Systems/Network Engineers to ensure that all approaches, constraints, and perspectives are thoroughly evaluated in risk management and policy decisions. Your role will involve analyzing the development of strategies, policies, governance, and implementation guidance to better integrate cybersecurity disciplines, facilitating a comprehensive risk management approach.
The Senior Information Systems Security Officer will also undertake Risk Management Framework (RMF) Assessment and Authorization (A&A) responsibilities. You will be responsible for developing the necessary documentation, validation, and accreditation processes to ensure that systems comply with security and privacy standards. This includes evaluating test results, analyzing risks, and preparing security assessment documentation to support accreditation decisions. You will create risk mitigation strategies and ensure that security configurations align with DoD mandated policies. Your role will involve interpreting RMF guidance from Authorizing Officials and providing insights for the preparation of accreditation packages. Additionally, you will assess the relevance of emerging vulnerabilities to specific systems and technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the formulation and upkeep of information security policies, standards, and control procedures to ensure compliance with RMF.
- Prepare Security Authorization packages, including System Security Plans, Security Assessment Reports, POA&M summaries, and a Continuous Monitoring Plan/assessment schedule, and deliver executive briefings to senior management.
- Conduct security risk assessments as necessary for system upgrades, software/hardware modifications, etc.
- Define and document security authorization boundaries in system security plans, ensuring all interconnection agreements are current.
- Ensure that system security controls include accurate implementation statements and assessment results, and that appropriate artifacts are completed to support findings.
- Maintain accurate POA&Ms with appropriate milestones, detailed descriptions of weaknesses and remediation, estimated costs for completion, and realistic due dates.
- Oversee the daily security posture and continuous monitoring of all Information Systems.
- Review system vulnerability scans, verify the implementation of DISA STIGs, and ensure completion of other security-related configuration tasks.
- Conduct testing and evaluation of required technical security controls, including certification tests and periodic inspections of information systems.
- Develop and execute test procedures for verification of Assessment and Authorization (A&A) and Risk Management Framework (RMF) safeguards to meet customer requirements based on NIST publications.
- Assess changes to an Information System by performing periodic self-inspections, tests, and reviews to ensure systems operate as authorized/accredited and that conditions remain unchanged; ensure corrective actions are taken for identified findings and vulnerabilities.
Qualifications:
- Active TS/SCI Clearance.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- A minimum of 8 years of directly related experience.
- Must meet DoD M IAT-II or IAM-I baseline certification requirements such as Security + or equivalent.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Experience in developing technical documentation, including artifacts required for Assessment & Authorization (A&A) under the Risk Management Framework.
- Familiarity with security configurations across various operating systems, including Windows, Linux, and UNIX, utilizing Active Directory/Group Policy.
- In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows OS (client and server); familiarity with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) is preferred.
- Experience with eMASS, XACTA, ACAS/NESSUS, Trellix, and Splunk.
- Knowledge of risk management, information system sanitization and destruction, incident response, virus scanning, and hardware/software configuration management.
- Experience in developing IT policy, guidance, or procedure documentation to support cybersecurity accreditations.
- Experience in analyzing, assessing, or implementing NIST SP security controls, CCIs, and associated assessment procedures.
- Ability to develop and present complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Expertise in RMF.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience supervising or participating in cybersecurity Assessment and Authorizations.
- Ability to provide hands-on assistance with cybersecurity tools as needed.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity tool suites such as ForeScout, Avanti, and HBSS.
