Opportunity Overview

WSP is seeking a seasoned Senior Traffic Engineering Manager to join our expanding Tennessee Traffic division. This role is crucial for the advancement of our Traffic Engineering capabilities, encompassing traffic design, signal management, traffic assessments, and comprehensive traffic studies. Our Nashville team collaborates with a diverse range of clients across the state, engaging in projects that include signal design, intelligent transportation systems, corridor evaluations, and complex roadway initiatives.

Your Contributions

  • Act as the primary project leader for traffic engineering initiatives.
  • Engage in signal design and operational enhancement projects, alongside traffic engineering assignments for various transportation departments.
  • Conduct thorough traffic and accident analyses for municipal and state projects.
  • Execute traffic studies and review traffic impact assessments.
  • Support design-build projects and other traffic engineering tasks as required.
  • Develop and implement signal timing strategies.
  • Conduct intersection and corridor improvement analyses, including interchange modifications.
  • Perform safety evaluations, including accident analyses and collision mapping.
  • Carry out professional traffic engineering tasks, inspecting proposed and existing conditions, roadways, intersections, signage, signals, and transportation corridors to ensure compliance with relevant standards.
  • Innovate and design strategic concepts for intersection and corridor enhancements, coordinating with authorities and clients.
  • Design communication networks and traffic signal upgrades for real-time corridor management.
  • Oversee the management of design and construction for traffic projects, including rehabilitation and safety planning.
  • Lead cross-functional teams of engineers and planners to ensure project success across multiple concurrent assignments.
  • Uphold ethical decision-making regarding company resources and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a closely related field.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in engineering with a focus on traffic design.
  • Registered Professional Engineer.
  • Experience in Intelligent Transportation Systems and signal design.
  • Proficiency in Microstation or similar CAD software.
  • Familiarity with traffic engineering software such as HCS, Synchro, VISSIM, and ArcGIS.
  • Knowledge of DOT advisory circulars and procedures.
  • Extensive understanding of traffic engineering principles and project management.
  • Experience in roadway planning, design, and construction management.
  • Strong technical writing and proficiency in office automation tools.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to WSP's health and safety policies.
