Opportunity Overview
We are excited to offer a position for an experienced Support Service Engineer who will take a hands-on leadership role. We seek a technical and pragmatic individual capable of troubleshooting and repairing assigned systems to ensure they operate at peak performance within a cost-effective timeframe. This role involves educating customers on proper usage, safety protocols, and system maintenance. The Service Support Engineer will oversee the installation and operational performance of assigned systems, ensuring they meet factory specifications and conducting basic user training during installations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install and maintain Oxford QX dilution refrigerator systems upon delivery.
- Conduct annual maintenance on various dilution refrigerators across multiple manufacturers and models.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with QX systems.
- Collaborate with the Plasma group to support onsite Plasma systems.
- Manage service equipment and spare parts inventory.
- Provide training to end users and assist with technical inquiries.
Position Characteristics:
- Diverse tasks involving multiple projects in a fast-paced setting.

- Decisive leadership based on expertise, ensuring quality standards are upheld.

Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate will possess a degree in Physics or Engineering, along with a robust background in servicing high vacuum and low-temperature equipment, particularly with Oxford Instruments products. Experience in low-temperature physics applications is essential, along with skills in mechanical assembly techniques such as soldering and welding, and a foundational understanding of low-temperature thermometry.

- Strong attention to detail and effective record-keeping.
- Proficient in leak detection at cryogenic temperatures.
- Familiarity with network-based control systems.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
