About the Role

AECOM is seeking a highly skilled Protection and Controls Engineer to join our Energy Business Line's Engineering Center of Excellence. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in supporting our Grid Modernization programs, projects, and pursuits.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop electrical engineering solutions for transmission and distribution systems
  • Provide technical expertise in protection and controls, including relay coordination and system protection settings
  • Collaborate with project teams to develop design schedules and budgets for electrical engineering work activities
  • Perform power system studies and system protection settings coordination on various projects
  • Generate basis of design documentation for protection settings and relay configurations
  • Support projects during construction, start-up, and commissioning
  • Review engineering work performed by peers
  • Attend client meetings and provide technical input to studies and design
  • Mentor early career engineers and facilitate internal training sessions
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university
  • 6 years of relevant protection and controls experience
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required
  • Preferred qualifications include 10 years of experience, knowledge of FERC and NERC requirements, and experience with IEC61850
