Job Title: Payroll Specialist

Mize CPAs Inc. is seeking a skilled Payroll Specialist to join our team in the Topeka office. As a Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for processing and managing payroll for various clients, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in all aspects of payroll management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Set up and maintain payroll databases for assigned clients
  • Receive and organize payroll hours worked, including employee new hire and changed information
  • Calculate wages based on hours worked, incorporating overtime, bonuses, and other factors
  • Review garnishment orders, compute deductions, and enter information into employee deduction files
  • Research federal, state, and local payroll tax requirements and update databases accordingly
  • Enter employee information, process payroll, and generate various payroll journals and reports
  • Process taxes and payment of employee benefits
  • Address payroll-related issues and questions from employees and superiors
  • Prepare reports for upper management and finance department
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Proficient in MS Office and knowledge of relevant software and databases
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals and payroll best practices
  • Trustworthy with attention to confidentiality
  • Outstanding organizational ability with great attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Full cycle payroll or accounting experience working in a CPA firm
  • At least 2 years' proven experience as a payroll specialist, payroll, or office manager
  • Experience in bank processing or banking systems
