Statewide Medical Director Job Description

VitalCore Health Strategies is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Director to lead our correctional healthcare team. As a Statewide Medical Director, you will be responsible for providing guidance, leadership, and oversight of all aspects of correctional medical care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide clinical direction and oversight of correctional medical care
  • Authorize services and consult with clinical operations
  • Maintain clinical quality and integrity of patient medical care
  • Oversee utilization and quality management, credentialing, and best practice guideline development
  • Support facilities in developing site-specific protocols and interpreting policies
  • Lead initiatives related to medical services and nursing care
Requirements:
  • Current unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Michigan
  • Board Certification
  • Valid unrestricted DEA License
  • Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • Master's degree in business administration (MBA), Public Health (MPH), Healthcare Administration (MHCA) or similar (preferred)
  • Knowledge of managed healthcare systems, medical quality assurance, quality improvement, and risk management
  • Experience in launching and managing innovative medical programs
  • Ability to demonstrate leadership, team management, and interpersonal skills
