Job Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic Educational Support Specialist to become a vital part of our professional team. In this role, you will collaborate with colleagues to implement the educational framework and oversee the daily operations of the classroom. A solid understanding of children's cognitive, social, emotional, and physical growth is essential to cultivate a safe and engaging learning environment that encourages active participation and success.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Design and execute educational programs by creating classroom activities aligned with Developmentally Appropriate Practices and Vermont Early Learning Standards.
  • Organize activities that foster cognitive, social, emotional, and physical growth.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with families through various channels.
  • Ensure compliance with all center policies and state regulations.
  • Establish and uphold a healthy classroom environment in accordance with state guidelines.
  • Document observations, curriculum, and assessments within specified timeframes.
  • Develop and maintain a personal professional development plan for ongoing quality enhancement.
Qualifications
  • Compliance with Vermont State Regulations for a Teacher Associate
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum age of twenty (20) years.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively within a team of staff, children, and parents.
  • Comprehensive understanding of child development principles.
  • Exceptional leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Certification in Infant/Child CPR and First Aid.
  • Successful completion of background checks and fingerprinting.
  • Training as a Mandated Reporter.
  • Completion of Vermont Orientation Training.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Possession of a Vermont Early Childhood Career Ladder Level Three (3) Certificate; or
  • An associate degree in Early Childhood, Child or Human Development, Elementary Education, or Child and Family Services, along with at least twelve (12) months of experience working with children in grade three (3) or younger; or
  • A Certificate of Completion from the Registered Child Care Apprenticeship Program; or
  • A Child Care Certificate from the Community College of Vermont with a minimum of twelve (12) months of experience working with children in grade three (3) or younger; or
  • Completion of twenty-one (21) college credits focused on early childhood or school-age education, with at least twelve (12) months of experience working with children in grade three (3) or younger.
