Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team at UMass Memorial Health. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for performing routine maintenance, repairs, and installations of various equipment and systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot, and repair medical gas systems, medical air pumps, compressors, vacuum pumps, alarm panels, valves, gauges, water purification systems, refrigeration systems, fire alarm systems, pneumatic tube system, laundry equipment, beds, stretchers, sterilizers, surgical instruments, kitchen appliances, etc.
  • Replace light bulbs and related items. Assist with fire alarm system shut down, generator and electric testing as directed. Assist with major repairs and installation of equipment and systems.
  • Fabricate minor repair parts and components as required.
  • Troubleshoot, evaluate and identify problems with mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems and respond appropriately.
  • May perform sheet metal cutting, welding, and soldering duties.
Requirements
  • Ability to read, write, calculate and follow instructions and procedures.
  • Knowledge of basic plumbing, heating, electrical, and mechanical techniques and repair principles.
  • Works from specifications, schedules, and general instructions requiring interpretation in various applications.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Reading (English), writing (English), and ability to utilize Computer to input work orders in the Computerized Maintenance Work Order System with minimal training within (60) days of employment required.
  • One to three years experience. Trade school completion preferred.
