Job Summary:

The Paraprofessional will assist in the instruction of special needs students, providing individualized support and reinforcement to help them achieve their academic goals. This is a dynamic and rewarding role that requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and other support staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist students individually or in small groups with lesson assignments, providing support and reinforcement to help them understand and apply learning concepts.
  • Confers with teachers, parents, and other professionals to discuss student progress and develop strategies to support student success.
  • Establish positive relationships with students, promoting their confidence and self-esteem through recognition, rewards, and regular training of age-appropriate behavior.
  • Implement special strategies to improve student academic success, reinforcing materials or skills based on individual student needs, interests, and abilities.
  • Monitor individual or small groups of students, providing a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Participate in team meetings, program workshops, and seminars to convey and receive information about the program and related activities.
Requirements:
  • Associate's degree or equivalent; or 60 college credits; or evidence of passing the Para Pro Assessment Test.
  • CPR/First Aid certification and a Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and other support staff, promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment.
