We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Underwriter to join our team at AmTrust Financial Services. As a Senior Underwriter, you will be responsible for administering the underwriting, servicing of new, and renewal accounts for agents and producers assigned within the territory in compliance with company underwriting, authority, and pricing standards.
Key Responsibilities- Underwriting and Risk Analysis: Write and retain a profitable book of business through solid risk analysis, pricing, and servicing. Maintain compliance with state filings and adhere to corporate underwriting and pricing guidelines.
- Collaboration and Teamwork: Collaborate closely with the territory team, keeping peers and Territory Management informed of all issues and activity.
- Business Planning and Development: In collaboration with Territory Management, develop and implement the territory business plan and share accountability with the team in meeting territory goals.
- Training and Development: Train territory staff and clients on underwriting appetite and protocols in conjunction with corporate training guidelines.
- Referral and Coaching: Within Home Office authority grant, act as the referral point for the territory underwriting staff and coach and collaborate with the team to develop, manage, and maintain outside client relationships.
- Communication and Customer Service: Provide professional, timely, and courteous communication and service to external clients and cross-departmental staff to successfully resolve issues pertaining to policyholders and territory producers.
- Reporting and Data Management: Collaborate with the territory team on reports and update databases as required.
- Market Research and Analysis: Keep current with market trends and demands.
- Education and Experience: CPCU or CIC designation preferred, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Travel Requirements: Ability to travel up to 25% of the time within the assigned territory and to the Home Office as required.
- Technical Knowledge: Demonstrated experience with and expert technical knowledge of commercial casualty, property, automobile, workers' compensation, and umbrella insurance coverage and risk selection, methods, and pricing.
- Analytical and Decision-Making Skills: Demonstrated ability to interpret and analyze data and make an informed, calculated risk decision.
- Commercial Line Experience: 8+ years of commercial line property and casualty experience.
- Strategic Planning and Leadership: Ability to make sound contributions to tactical and strategic planning.
- Training and Development: Ability to train, coach, and mentor individuals of various backgrounds within the area of expertise.
