Role Summary: The Policy Analyst for Technology Policy plays a crucial role in shaping our policy initiatives concerning both current and future healthcare technologies, standards adoption, data interoperability, privacy, and cybersecurity. This position involves analyzing and responding to legislative and regulatory developments at both state and federal levels that affect the health insurance industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitates the development of policies that influence emerging healthcare technologies, data interoperability, privacy, and cybersecurity regulations.
- Collects feedback from members through various communication methods, including written correspondence and meetings, to formulate consensus-driven positions.
- Drafts and articulates AHIP's policy stances, ensuring alignment among members on legislative and regulatory proposals.
- Collaborates with members to analyze and implement technology standards and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Creates educational materials and issue briefs for member organizations.
- Maintains communication with federal regulatory bodies, coalitions, and health plans.
- Works in partnership with other departments within AHIP on shared initiatives.
- Performs additional tasks as necessary.
Physical Requirements
The physical demands of this role include regular communication and the ability to operate technology and office equipment effectively.
Mental Requirements
This position requires strong analytical skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and the capacity to remain composed under pressure.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience is required; a Master's Degree is preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in policy development related to healthcare technology, privacy, and cybersecurity.

- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
