Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior R&D Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing our clinical prototype. This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to work at the forefront of medical device development, integrating biophysics, image processing, deep learning, novel electronics, ultrasound, and real-time signal processing.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop innovative medical device solutions that meet the needs of clinicians and patients.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, electrical, and software engineers, to achieve our clinical goals.
- Lead critical benchtop and preclinical experiments to validate our device's performance.
- Develop and execute complex experimental protocols in ex vivo and/or in vivo settings.
- Work closely with clinicians to understand their needs and develop solutions that meet those needs.
Requirements
- PhD in electrical engineering, biomedical engineering, computer science, medical physics, or a closely related field.
- MS or BS with 4-5 years of equivalent work experience in industry or academia.
- Excellent technical and analytical skills, coupled with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience developing and executing complex experimental protocols in ex vivo and/or in vivo settings.
- General knowledge of medical imaging (e.g., ultrasound, CT, MRI) and image-guided surgery.
- Familiarity with basic mechanical design and rapid prototyping (e.g., 3D printing, laser cutting, etc.).
- Knowledge of Python or Matlab for processing test results and test and measurement automation.
- Experience with ultrasound prototyping hardware is a plus (e.g., Verasonics, Cephasonics).
- Experience applying image processing, computer vision, and/or deep learning techniques to medical images is a plus.
- Basic electronics experience (e.g., fabrication, troubleshooting, schematic capture, PCB design) is a plus.
