Job Title: Infectious Disease Physician

Infectious Disease Physicians play a crucial role in the healthcare team, working collaboratively to provide comprehensive healthcare services to patients. The scope of practice for each physician is defined through the health system's credentialing and privileging committee.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support objectives, budget, and performance metrics at the individual level.
  • Implement quality control standards, risk management, and compliance programs.
  • Provide quality clinical care to patients in a timely manner.
Requirements:
  • Doctorate from an accredited medical school.
  • One year of medical/surgical experience.
  • Licensed to practice medicine by the Virginia Department of Health Professions.
Working Conditions:

Infectious Disease Physicians work in well-lighted/ventilated office/clinical settings, subject to frequent interruptions. They may be required to work beyond normal working hours, including overtime and on-call shifts. Routine occupational exposure to infectious diseases, blood-borne pathogens, bodily fluids, hazardous chemicals, noxious odors, latex, and musculoskeletal injuries is possible.

The use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is necessary for instances of exposure to blood, body fluids, and infectious processes. The hospital supplies PPE for these situations.

Infectious Disease Physicians interact with patients, family members, co-workers, and visitors under all conditions, including hostile and emotionally upset individuals.
