Position Overview
This role is situated within the U.S. Coast Guard, specifically in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The selected candidate will be part of the Assistant Commandant for C5ISC, focusing on Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, and Intelligence Services.
Key Responsibilities
As a Cybersecurity Project Manager, you will oversee IT initiatives and serve as a key contributor to the operational processes that underpin our services. Your role will involve:
- Leading IT projects utilizing both Agile and Waterfall methodologies, ensuring effective management of budget, timeline, and performance metrics.
- Collaborating with users and stakeholders to align project goals with strategic objectives and compliance requirements.
- Providing guidance and oversight on critical IT operational functions to guarantee successful service delivery.
- Assessing user requirements and system specifications to evaluate design feasibility within specified time and budget constraints.
Training and Certification Requirements
Successful candidates will be required to complete mandatory training, including:
- Federal Acquisition Certification for Program and Project Managers Level I (FAC P/PM-I) or an equivalent certification within two years of hire.
- Information Assurance Management Level II (IAM-II) or an equivalent certification within two years of hire.
Incentives
Newly appointed candidates may be eligible for a one-time recruitment incentive of 10% of their salary, contingent upon a 12-month service agreement. Current federal employees relocating for this position may also qualify for a relocation incentive.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must be U.S. citizens and meet specific security clearance requirements. A probationary period may be necessary, and all qualifications must be satisfied by the application deadline.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position at the GS-12 level, candidates should possess:
- A minimum of one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level, including managing multiple IT projects through various lifecycle stages.
- Experience with Agile and Waterfall project management methodologies.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Familiarity with procurement processes for IT hardware and software.
