Position Overview:

ONE Gas is seeking skilled Gas Technicians to join our dedicated team. This role is essential for ensuring safe and efficient gas service operations.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Gas Technician, you will:
  • Engage in customer service operations related to gas services.
  • Manage the activation and deactivation of gas services, including the installation and removal of gas meters and regulators.
  • Respond promptly to natural gas emergencies.
  • Conduct inspections, calibrations, and maintenance of leak detection tools and equipment.
  • Maintain and operate company vehicles, ensuring all tools and equipment are loaded and unloaded appropriately.

Tools and Equipment Utilized:
  • Pipe wrenches and pliers
  • Screwdrivers and meters
  • Combustible gas indicators and ladders
  • Carbon monoxide detectors and power tools
  • Valve change tools and probe bars

Emergency Response:

Investigate customer-related issues and emergency situations, including:
  • High utility bills
  • Carbon monoxide concerns
  • Pressure discrepancies
  • Leak detection
  • Fire and explosion incidents
  • Natural disasters

Documentation and Reporting:

Complete and maintain accurate records, including:
  • Gas leak logs and work reports
  • Equipment maintenance documentation
  • Mileage and time sheets
  • Customer information and service orders

Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will need:
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • Experience with tools relevant to the position.
  • Basic arithmetic skills for operational tasks.
  • Familiarity with electronic communication devices and basic computer software.
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal.

Physical Requirements:

Candidates must be able to:
  • Lift and carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds regularly.
  • Climb ladders and navigate uneven terrain.
  • Respond swiftly to emergency situations.

Work Environment:

This position may require participation in an on-call rotation to address emergencies at any time, including nights and weekends.
