Early Childhood Education Lead

At the YMCA of Central Ohio, we believe that the early years of a child's life are crucial for their development and growth. As a Preschool Lead Teacher, you will play a vital role in shaping the minds of our young learners and helping them reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead by Example: Demonstrate a cause-driven leadership style and serve as a role model for other staff members and children in promoting healthy living practices and desired staff behaviors.
- Classroom Preparation: Ensure a safe and engaging learning environment by arranging and maintaining the classroom space, keeping it clean and organized, and conducting regular assessments to meet the needs of our children.
- Communication and Relationships: Build strong relationships with children, parents, and staff through effective communication and professionalism.
- Child Development and Assessment: Assess each child's developmental needs and establish individual goals, documenting progress and using this information to inform curriculum planning and assessment.
- Lesson Planning and Implementation: Develop and implement lesson plans that reflect a well-balanced and varied program, incorporating Ohio, SUTQ, NAEYC, and grant standards.
- Behavior Management and Support: Provide clear expectations, positive reinforcement, and firm limits to promote positive behavior and support the social, emotional, and cognitive development of our children.
- Compliance and Record-Keeping: Ensure the center's compliance with YMCA, ODJFS licensing, SUTQ, grant, and NAEYC requirements, maintaining accurate records and entering data into relevant systems in a timely manner.
- Team Collaboration and Professional Development: Contribute to staff projects, communicate effectively with supervisors and colleagues, and participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.
- Attendance and Absence Procedures: Maintain prompt attendance, follow procedures for absences, and provide guidance and lesson plans for colleagues in your absence.
- Additional Responsibilities: Assist in the training of other staff members, complete duties as required by the Child and Adult Care Food program, and work assigned shifts to ensure teacher-child ratios are met.
- Bachelor's degree in child development, elementary education, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
- Previous experience in an early care and education setting or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Career Pathway Level as determined by Program's SUTQ requirements.
- Medical statement as required by ODJFS standards.
- Training certifications in first aid, communicable diseases, child abuse recognition & prevention required by ODJFS.
- Passionate belief in the Y's cause of nurturing the potential of all youth, supporting healthy living for all people, and finding ways to help and support our neighbors.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Proven track record of developing authentic relationships with others.
- Ability to foster a collaborative team approach to solving challenging situations.
