Pharmacy Technician Trainee

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician Trainee to join our team at The University of Iowa. As a Pharmacy Technician Trainee, you will play a vital role in supporting our pharmacy team in providing exceptional patient care and services.
Key Responsibilities- Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications, including sterile products and hazardous medications.
- Perform daily cleanroom maintenance activities, including cleaning and decontamination of equipment and surfaces.
- Provide excellent customer service to patients and healthcare professionals, responding to phone calls and in-person inquiries.
- Enter patient information and prescriptions into the computer system, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
- Fill and refill prescriptions, verifying accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare prescriptions for mailing and shipping, adhering to established policies and procedures.
- Perform inventory maintenance activities, including restocking and auditing medications.
- Conduct audits and quality assurance activities to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
- Assist in on-the-job training of new technicians and coordinate technical activities with other team members.
- Registered with the Pharmacy Board at the time of hire.
- Certified as a Pharmacy Technician within one year of employment.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Any combination of two years of post-high school experience and/or education in the natural sciences, or satisfactory completion of an accredited pharmacy technician training program.
- Ability to perform ratio and proportion equations.
- Experience in a retail pharmacy setting.
- Previous healthcare experience preferred.
- Experience with inventory maintenance activities.
- Experience working in a team environment.
- Experience working in healthcare with one-on-one patient interaction.
