Job Summary:

The Pharmacy Technician at Kaiser Permanente plays a vital role in ensuring the timely and accurate distribution of medication to our patients. This position requires a strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process new and refill prescriptions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Count and pour medications from stock bottles, maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Enter chronic condition information and prepackage medications for patient pickup
  • Stock shelves, file prescriptions, and perform inventory functions to maintain a well-organized pharmacy
  • Release refill medications and OTC products to patients, handling non-professional phone calls and communicating effectively with patients and prescribers
  • Triaging phone calls to the appropriate person and taking appropriate steps to resolve and report unusual occurrences
Requirements:
  • Completion of an approved pharmacy technician training program or equivalent
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification (Washington) required at hire
  • Ability to use available resources and tools efficiently and effectively
  • Knowledge of Pharmacy law and its standards of practice
  • Problem-solving skills to work with patients and other healthcare providers
  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Customer service skills
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a team
Preferred Qualifications:
  • One (1) plus year of Pharmacy Technician experience
  • Two (2) plus years of IV experience
  • Two (2) plus years of warehouse experience
  • Ability to perform pharmaceutical calculations, identify drug names, and have knowledge of most common uses for pharmaceuticals
