Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Construction Laborer to join our team at H&K Group, Inc. As a key member of our Structures Division, you will play a vital role in supporting our heavy civil and highway construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform all work in accordance with OSHA and H&K Safety policies.
  • Acquire and maintain tools necessary for daily operations.
  • Measure distances, drive stakes, and stretch tight lines.
  • Bolt, nail, align, and block up under forms.
  • Signal operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery to conform to grade specifications.
  • Level earth to fine grade specifications.
  • Mix and smooth freshly poured cement or concrete.
  • Position, join, align, and seal pipe sections.
  • Erect scaffolding, shoring, and braces.
  • Assist with pre-run markings and operate a paving lute to fine grade before roller man compacts.
  • Operate a vibratory plate as needed and shovel asphalt as required.
  • Direct traffic around work areas as necessary.
  • Perform pipe duties, including getting tools needed for daily operations, setting up a pipe laser, and operating a Wacker and jumping jack for backfilling duties.
  • Use cut saws to make pipe to proper length, prep pipe for connection, and shoot grades and check grades using laser or conventional methods.
  • Perform connection of pipe work and check for proper pipe slope.
  • Prep structures for installation and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • One month of related experience and/or training.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Mathematical skills, including ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to understand and carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to fit test and utilize appropriate PPE as needed.
  • Ability to meet physical requirements, including movement, lifting, and relevant job demands.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in heavy civil construction, road construction, or quarries.
  • OSHA or other relevant safety certifications.
Work Environment

Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. Noise level is usually moderate.
