Join Our Team as a Gas and Diesel Mechanic
At First Student, we take pride in being a part of a dedicated workforce of over 60,000 employees, committed to the safe transportation of millions of students and passengers daily. Our family of brands includes Transco, Total Transportation, Maggies Paratransit, and GVC II.
We are currently seeking a skilled Gas and Diesel Mechanic to support our operations. This role is essential in maintaining our fleet, which includes various vehicles such as Ford Transits, Chevy Suburbans, and Freightliner C2 school buses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct preventive maintenance (PMs) and safety inspections.
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on vehicle systems including brakes, suspensions, drivetrains, and transmissions.
- Assist in annual DOT maintenance inspections to ensure compliance and safety.
- Participate in training programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
What We Offer:
- Competitive hourly wage of $29.87, with additional compensation for ASE certifications.
- A $3,500 sign-on bonus and company-paid ASE testing and training materials.
- Consistent full-time schedule from Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
- Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).
- Paid holidays and vacation time.

Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in automotive or diesel maintenance and repair, or equivalent technical education.
- Willingness to obtain a CDL while employed; training will be provided.
- Must be able to pass DOT drug testing as this is a safety-sensitive position.
