POSITION SUMMARY:

The Childcare Director oversees the daily operations and administration of the Child Development Center. This role includes maintaining compliance with licensing and food program regulations, managing budgets, developing program plans, and ensuring enrollment and retention of participants. This position requires active leadership and flexibility in scheduling.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Childcare Operations

  • Oversees daily operations of childcare programs.
  • Achieves and maintains accreditation standards.
  • Implements strategies to enhance program quality and enrollment.
  • Recommends staffing plans to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Manages recruitment and orientation of children and families.
  • Conducts tours for prospective participants.
  • Advises families on necessary referrals.
  • Recommends educational materials and resources.
  • Communicates with families regarding policies and procedures.
  • Collaborates with staff on child development and learning strategies.
  • Ensures compliance with state and local regulations.
  • Maintains food program records.
  • Arranges medical care for children as needed.
  • Fulfills teaching responsibilities as required.
  • Ensures adherence to licensing regulations.

Community Relationships

  • Fosters positive relationships with licensing consultants.
  • Develops partnerships with local schools.
  • Builds connections with community organizations.

Human Resource Management

  • Supervises childcare staff and volunteers.
  • Coordinates the overall direction and evaluation of the center.
  • Implements policies and procedures for staff management.
  • Assists staff in identifying professional development needs.
  • Sets performance goals for team members.
  • Recommends salary adjustments.
  • Reviews payroll reports for accuracy.
  • Facilitates recruitment of diverse staff.
  • Conducts interviews and training for new hires.

Fiscal Management

Facility Management

COMPENSATION:

$48,000 - $55,000 annually; Full Time; Exempt

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development required; additional coursework in childcare administration; 3-5 years of experience in licensed childcare management; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous supervisory experience preferred. Strong desire to work with children aged infant to 6 years. Familiarity with NAEYC Code of Ethics is essential. Knowledge of fiscal management principles is required. Ability to engage with diverse populations. Proficiency in computer applications is necessary.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION:

  • Fingerprinting clearance.
  • State criminal background check.
  • DHS clearance.
  • Negative T.B. test and proof of physical exam.
  • Blood Borne Pathogen training.
  • CPR Certification required within the first 60 days.
  • First Aid Certification required within the first 60 days.
  • AED-Oxygen Certification required within the first 60 days.
