Medical Care Technician

About the Role
This position offers a challenging and rewarding experience for individuals looking to pursue a career in medical care. As a clinical placement student, you will be assigned to various facilities within the community and work closely with licensed nurses and other healthcare professionals to provide safe and effective dialysis therapy to patients. Your responsibilities will include assisting with the setup and operation of hemodialysis machines, maintaining a clean and safe working environment, and supporting quality improvement initiatives that enhance patient care.
Key Responsibilities
Your duties as a medical care technician in this role will include taking vital signs, escorting patients to and from the scale, weighing patients, preparing labs, setting up machines, conducting pre-initiation safety checks, initiating or terminating treatments, cannulation of fistulas and grafts, post-treatment emptying of dialysis circuits, surface disinfecting stations and machines, internal heat/chemical disinfecting machines, removing needles and hold sites, checking sites and applying bandages, checking residual disinfectant, hand-cranking in emergencies, mixing bleach water, checking blood sugars, drawing blood cultures and labs, obtaining pH and conductivity of machines, and preparing dialysate.
Requirements and Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you will need to possess a high school diploma or equivalent and demonstrate a strong desire to deliver superior patient care. Our ideal candidate will have excellent customer service skills, a willingness to learn, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment. You must also be able to lift and move patients, push and pull equipment, and stand for long periods. Additionally, you will need to adhere to all facility and FMCNA policies and procedures, including those related to confidentiality, patient rights, and infection control.
Salary Information
We offer an estimated annual salary range of $40,000-$60,000 based on your qualifications, location, and level of experience. This figure includes base pay, plus any applicable bonuses, benefits, or overtime compensation. Please note that salaries may vary depending on your specific circumstances and performance. Other Requirements
Please note that as a medical care technician in our clinical placement program, you will be required to complete compliance training within 45 days of hire if you work over 160 hours per month. You will also be responsible for completing surveys at the end of each rotation to help us evaluate and improve our patient care services.
