Position Overview:
The CT Imaging Specialist is responsible for conducting computerized tomography (CT) scans of patients as per the directives of referring physicians.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Welcomes patients, verifies the imaging procedure to be performed, elucidates the process to the patient, and addresses any concerns regarding the procedure.
  • Examines the patient's medical history before executing the CT scan and ensures that the patient has consented to the use of contrast media.
  • Positions the patient on the examination table and observes their condition throughout the procedure.
  • Administers intravenous contrast material as instructed by the radiologist.
  • Operates and fine-tunes CT machinery to guarantee that images fulfill the required standards.
  • Maintains the imaging equipment and examination area, organizes film storage, and manages the inventory of necessary supplies.
  • Compiles patient information files detailing the patient's name, date of the CT scan, referring physician, and specifics of the examination.
  • Prepares and submits reports indicating the quantity and types of scans performed.
  • Undertakes additional related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Experience: A minimum of two (2) years of recent experience as a Radiologic Technologist with ARRT certification is required. At least one (1) year of experience as a CT Technologist or eligibility for ARRT advanced certification in CT is necessary; however, new hires must obtain certification within twelve (12) months of employment.
  • Education: Must possess competency in venipuncture or achieve competency within three (3) months of employment. Graduation from a certified/accredited ARRT program is required. A High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) is mandatory.
  • Licenses and Certifications: Radiologic Technologist License (District of Columbia), Basic Life Support certification, and American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate in Computed Tomography within 12 months of hire.
Additional Requirements:
  • Must be capable of standing, pushing, pulling, and lifting patients.
  • Position necessitates the ability to focus on fine details amidst frequent interruptions and to engage in tasks for 20 to 45 minutes consecutively.
  • Should be adaptable to accommodate patient or departmental needs without disrupting workflow.
  • Effective interpersonal skills are essential for working with patients, alongside the ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift at least 50 pounds, as well as hear, speak, and see.
  • May be required to lift objects exceeding 50 pounds, perform intricate manual skills, and maintain prolonged periods of standing and walking.
  • Proficiency in relevant computer software is required.
  • Understanding of customer service expectations within the organization is necessary.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and pleasantly with colleagues and patients.
  • Demonstrates strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Specialized training in computerized tomography is required.
