The CT Imaging Specialist is responsible for conducting computerized tomography (CT) scans as per the directives of referring physicians.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welcomes patients, verifies the imaging procedure to be performed, clarifies the process to the patient, and addresses any concerns regarding the procedure.
- Examines the patient's medical background before executing the CT scan and ensures that the patient has completed a consent form for contrast media.
- Arranges the patient on the examination table and observes their condition throughout the imaging process.
- Administers intravenous contrast material as instructed by the radiologist.
- Operates and fine-tunes CT machinery to guarantee that the images produced meet the necessary standards.
- Maintains the imaging equipment and examination area, organizes film storage, and keeps track of related supplies.
- Compiles patient information files that include the patient's name, date of the CT scan, referring physician, and the specifics of the examination.
- Generates and submits reports detailing the quantity and types of scans performed.
- Undertakes additional related tasks as assigned.
- At least two (2) years of recent experience as a Radiologic Technologist with ARRT certification is required.
- A minimum of one (1) year of experience as a CT Technologist or eligibility for ARRT advanced certification in CT is required; new hires must obtain certification within twelve (12) months of employment.
- Current KP Coalition employees have this experience requirement waived as per the National Agreement.
- Must complete venipuncture competency checks within three (3) months of hire.
- Graduation from a certified/accredited ARRT program is mandatory.
- A High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) is required.
- Radiologic Technologist License (District of Columbia)
- Basic Life Support Certification
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate in Computed Tomography within 12 months of hire
- Radiologic Technologist Certification
- Ability to stand, push, pull, and lift patients as needed.
- Must focus on fine details despite frequent interruptions and sustain attention on tasks for 20 to 45 minutes.
- Flexibility to adapt routines to accommodate patient needs or departmental demands without disrupting workflow.
- Effective interpersonal skills are essential for patient interaction, along with the ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift at least 50 pounds.
- May need to lift objects exceeding 50 pounds and perform intricate manual tasks while maintaining coordination.
- Proficient in relevant computer software applications.
- Understanding of customer service requirements within the organization.
- Ability to communicate effectively and courteously with patients and colleagues.
- Demonstrates strong oral and written communication skills.
- Specialized training in computerized tomography is required.
