CT Imaging Specialist

The CT Imaging Specialist is responsible for conducting computerized tomography (CT) scans as per the directives of referring medical professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welcomes patients, verifies the imaging procedure to be performed, clarifies the process to the patient, and addresses any concerns regarding the procedure.
- Examines the patient's medical history before executing the CT scan and ensures that the patient has completed a consent form for contrast media.
- Arranges the patient on the examination table and observes their condition throughout the imaging process.
- Administers intravenous contrast materials as instructed by the radiologist.
- Operates and fine-tunes CT machinery to ensure that the images produced meet the required standards.
- Maintains the imaging equipment and examination area, organizes film storage, and manages the inventory of necessary supplies.
- Compiles patient information records detailing the patient's name, date of the CT scan, referring physician, and specifics of the examination.
- Prepares and submits reports that outline the quantity and types of scans performed.
- Undertakes additional related tasks as assigned.
- At least two (2) years of recent experience as a Radiologic Technologist with ARRT certification is required.
- A minimum of one (1) year of experience as a CT Technologist or eligibility for ARRT advanced certification in CT is necessary; new hires must obtain certification within twelve (12) months of employment.
- Current KP Coalition employees are exempt from this experience requirement.
- Competency in venipuncture is required or must be achieved within three (3) months of employment.
- Graduation from a certified/accredited ARRT program is mandatory.
- A High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) is required.
- Radiologic Technologist License (District of Columbia)
- Basic Life Support Certification
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate in Computed Tomography within 12 months of employment
- Radiologic Technologist Certification
- Ability to stand, push, pull, and lift patients as needed.
- Position necessitates focus on fine details amidst frequent interruptions and the ability to attend to tasks for durations of 20 to 45 minutes.
- Must be adaptable to changes in routine to accommodate patient needs or departmental requirements without disrupting workflow.
- Effective interpersonal skills are essential for working with patients, alongside the physical capability to stand, walk, bend, and lift at least 50 pounds.
- May be required to lift items exceeding 50 pounds, perform intricate manual tasks, and maintain prolonged periods of standing and walking.
- Proficiency in relevant computer software is necessary.
- Understanding of customer service standards within the organization is important.
- Ability to communicate effectively and courteously with patients and colleagues.
- Demonstrates strong oral and written communication skills.
- Specialized training in computerized tomography is required.
