Our facility is recognized for excellence, featuring a designated Stroke Center, a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence, and a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, all supported by a cutting-edge clinical laboratory.
The Clinical Laboratory Specialist is responsible for executing all tasks associated with the pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical phases of patient specimen processing. This role includes the upkeep and quality assurance of testing equipment, with opportunities for cross-training across various laboratory departments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure accurate identification of patient specimens using dual identifiers, adhering to the specimen rejection policy. Document and investigate any specimens that do not meet acceptance criteria.
- Conduct and record all scheduled quality control measures and equipment maintenance, including cleaning, calibration, and monitoring environmental conditions.
- Perform laboratory procedures with precision and in accordance with established protocols, ensuring timely completion of routine and STAT tests.
- Report any instrumentation or Laboratory Information System (LIS) issues to the Supervisor and Lead Technologist.
- Contact the IT Help Desk for assistance with computer system issues.
- Comply with all mandatory Infection Prevention Practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Biology, or a related scientific field.
- 1-2 years of experience in a Clinical Laboratory setting.
- Possession of a New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist License is mandatory.
Compensation: The hourly wage for this position ranges from $44.29 to $55.62. This range is a good faith estimate and actual compensation will depend on various factors, including the candidate's qualifications, skills, and experience.
