Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Neuroscience Compliance Coordinator RN to join our team at Johnston-Willis Hospital. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in facilitating and promoting quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Initiate and lead educational activities for comprehensive stroke requirements at other HCA campuses and participate in local health fairs and symposia.
  • Conduct mock Code Neuros during normal and off-shift hours at different HCA campuses several times a year to ensure staff preparedness.
  • Work to assure successful survey process outcomes for disease-specific certification, requiring flexibility in hours due to survey preparedness, educational needs at other HCA campuses, and during all shifts.
  • Facilitate and coordinate the key elements of the Stroke Center Certification process, including development and review of protocols and policies, and attendance at off-hour meetings.
  • Educate staff and physicians on standards compliance and assessment/treatment per evidence-based practice for acute stroke patients.
  • Collaborate with physicians and organize meetings offsite as needed to build relationships and rapport for continued volume enhancements.
  • Provide education to staff and physicians to meet comprehensive stroke requirements, with opportunities for education during normal and off-hours.
  • Lead or participate actively in patient-centered research related to stroke, proficient in the entire research process, including IRB.
  • Interact with patients and families of acute stroke patients to determine care protocol compliance and patient satisfaction.
  • Initiate and manage databases for recording and reporting of data related to disease-specific certification/accreditation.
  • Aggregate and report on data relevant to certification programs in relevant committees.
  • Develop written reports related to assessments and recommend changes in the clinical practice environment as needed.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
  • Current Virginia State licensure by the State Board of Nursing as a Registered Professional Nurse or compact license.
  • Preferred specialty certification.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
