**Job Summary**

As a Scale Operator at Steel Technologies, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accurate packaging and weighing of finished goods. Your attention to detail and ability to follow instructions will be essential in this role.

**Key Responsibilities**

  • Instruct and assist pack-line on proper packing instructions according to sales orders.
  • Instruct the flow of packaged material to scales.
  • Inspect packages to ensure proper material, size, identification, packaging, and weight.
  • Weigh packages and enter data into the AS 400 system, generate tags, and document orders to ensure accuracy.
  • Compare tags to sales orders to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Balance production at the end of each order.
  • Document and break down production as required.
  • Account for all material and production flow to the office at completion.
  • Control the flow of material to and from scales to storage.
  • Perform routine inventory of tagging and packaging supplies.
  • Check scales daily for accuracy.

**Requirements**

  • A high school diploma or GED with at least one year of industrial or manufacturing experience is preferred.
  • Ability to follow all order instructions and complete documentation.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills, ability to accurately track and input data in the AS 400 system.
  • Ability to use tape measures, micrometers, and calipers.
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
