Job Title: Certified Payroll Specialist

Sebastian Corp is seeking a highly skilled Certified Payroll Specialist to join our team. As a Certified Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with labor laws and prevailing wage regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate and submit all certified payroll to the DIR and partnering contractors.
  • Correspond with subcontractors and project management team to support inquiries or issues with certified payroll.
  • Maintain internal records of subcontractor documents.
  • Cross-train on prevailing wage weekly payroll and serve as backup when needed.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding wages, deductions, and other certified payroll-related matters.
  • Maintain knowledge and ongoing changes in tax and deduction laws that apply to the payroll process.
  • Ensure prevailing wage schedules are accurate.
  • Responsible for apprentice tracking and reporting.
Requirements:
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Payroll Principles and compliance requirements.
  • 2-5 years of certified payroll administration experience preferred.
  • Industry-specific experience preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and data entry.
  • Proficient in Spectrum (Trimble) Payroll System preferred.
  • Ability to perform mathematical computations quickly and accurately.
  • Must be able to type 45 WPM and use a ten-key calculator by touch.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • High degree of accuracy, attention to detail, and confidentiality.
  • Must comply with all company policies and safety procedures.
  • Must have good time management and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Adherence to company CPNI policy.
  • Must actively participate in a team environment and practice "Corporate and Spirit of 46 values".
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time.
  • Must have minimal ability to stand, sit, squat, bend, kneel, twist, crawl, reach, push, and pull as required for light duties of standard office clerical positions.
  • Occasional lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 lbs.
  • Exposure to air-conditioned/heated office environment.
  • Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word level.
  • Visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing data, operation of office equipment, and determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work.
