A Community Support Specialist at SPIN's Community Participation Supports plays a vital role in fostering meaningful living experiences by assisting adults in individual or group settings at the SPIN Community Center.

Key Responsibilities of a Community Support Specialist:

· Provide compassionate care and assistance to ensure the safety and well-being of all individuals in accordance with their Individual Support Plans (ISP).

· Implement and oversee personalized plans to achieve specific goals based on individual preferences, needs, and interests.

· Administer and uphold behavioral plans as required.

· Promote optimal health for individuals by teaching essential skills, offering support, and encouraging healthy lifestyle choices.

· Ensure active participation and engagement of all individuals to the fullest extent possible.

· Assist individuals in developing and managing meaningful schedules for community participation on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis.

· Guide individuals in navigating the local community, including the use of public transportation.

· Encourage participation in community activities, organizations, and groups to foster social connections and relationships.

· Support individuals in exploring and engaging in hobbies or cultural interests that provide a sense of purpose and responsibility.

· Facilitate opportunities for individuals to engage in volunteer work.

· Assist individuals in acquiring the skills necessary for competitive integrated employment.

· Support individuals in adult education, self-determination, and self-advocacy initiatives.

Essential Qualifications:

· High School Diploma or GED;

· Minimum age of 18 years;

· Valid PA/NJ Driver's License with at least one year of driving experience;

· Covid-19 Vaccination required;

· Availability for a 2.5-week paid training program during standard business hours.
