Christus Health is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Surgical Technologist to join our team in Labor and Delivery. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures, providing exceptional patient care, and maintaining a safe and sterile environment.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in preparing and caring for pre-operative patients, ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the process.
- Prepare patient skin for surgery, maintaining aseptic techniques and actively monitoring situations that could lead to breaches in aseptic technique.
- Transport patients to and from the Operating Room suite, positioning them according to the type of surgery.
- Identify and care for biological specimens, preparing the Operating Room by setting up tables, instruments, and supplies according to the type of case.
- Work effectively as a member of the team caring for the patient, cooperating in team planning and execution, and maintaining a safe environment by implementing technical and aseptic practices.
- Demonstrate clinical expertise in the use and care of all surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment, adhering to Universal Barrier Precautions for both patient and own safety in all patient care situations.
- Monitor and control the surgical environment, maintaining proper traffic control, dress codes, and adherence to OR sanitation policies and procedures.
- Familiar with facility policy and procedure regarding decontamination, processing, and sterilization of all instruments and supplies that are processed within the facility.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of the Surgical Technology program or an accredited LVN/LPN program required.
- 2 or more years of experience preferred.
- BLS required.
- Certification of Surgical Technologist from The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting within 180 days of graduation or LVN/LPN License required.
