Job Summary

As a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in capital project cost control, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and reliability of cost estimates and forecasts for capital projects. Your expertise will be crucial in identifying potential risks and opportunities, and in providing guidance and coaching to project teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead cost control efforts for capital projects, ensuring that all projects between $1M and $10M have a monthly cost review and produce a cost face-sheet workbook.
  • Work with Project Managers to determine if a cost control professional is needed to produce the face-sheet.
  • Provide Cost Control coaching and guidance on project-related financial topics.
  • Be proficient in SAP for cost control and have the ability to challenge the scope of work which forms the estimate basis.
  • Review estimates between $1M and $10M (or GR/IM/Energy/Sustainability >$250K) for budgeting or any funding request, and issue validation letters formally approving the final estimate.
  • Review Project Schedules for issues and duration, and note any potential cost impacts.
  • Attend ERA (Engineering Readiness Assessments) and Gate reviews, and communicate your validation findings while covering the estimate slide.
  • Review proposed funding request amounts for partial funding requests to ensure the team has adequate funds to carry the project to the next Gate review.
  • Provide training to a class of users as needed, and assist Project Managers with monthly EcoSys tasks.
  • Extract data from EcoSys to monitor the health of projects in your region.
  • Make decision-making on Cost vs Capital determinations.
Requirements
  • BS in Engineering, Accounting, or another relevant field (or equivalent technical experience).
  • Proficient in Excel.
  • Preferred knowledge of SAP and EcoSys.
  • 3-5 years of experience with Capital Project Engineering or Management, cost control, project scheduling, or project estimating.
Training/Certifications

Preferred AACEi training in any of the following:

  • Certified Cost Professional (CCP)
  • Certified Cost Technician (CCT)
  • Certified Scheduling Technician (CST)
