Summary:

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and able to work independently to support our expanding drayage operations.


Key Responsibilities:
To excel in this role, candidates must effectively carry out the following essential duties:

  • Transport containers between the Los Angeles/Long Beach ports and designated warehouses.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of the vehicle before and after each trip.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the vehicle at all times.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in operating and safely driving the assigned delivery vehicle.
  • Ensure secure attachment of the trailer hitch to the tractor unit.
  • Communicate with dispatch as necessary through the onboard tablet.
  • Report any significant maintenance or delivery issues to management.
  • Prioritize safety in all operations.
  • Deliver and drop off both empty and loaded containers at warehouses and ports.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Possess a valid Class A CDL.
  • Hold an active TWIC card with a minimum of two years of experience at LA/LB ports.
  • Maintain an active Medical card.
  • Exhibit general mechanical knowledge.
  • Understand and comply with DOT regulations.
  • Be available for overtime as required by the department.

Skills and Abilities:
Candidates should demonstrate the following:

  • Ability to operate equipment and vehicles safely and responsibly.
  • Proficiency in understanding spoken and written English.
  • Basic math skills for inventory management.
  • Reliability, safety consciousness, and teamwork.
  • Consistent positive job performance as evidenced by teamwork, attendance, quality, and productivity metrics.

Physical Requirements:
Candidates must be able to:

  • Utilize three points of contact when entering and exiting the truck.
  • Maintain focus on tasks and situational awareness.
  • Engage in physical activities such as pushing, pulling, grasping, and fine manipulation of equipment throughout the workday.
  • Occasionally walk on uneven surfaces.
  • Sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
