Job Title: Behavioral Health Peer Specialist

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join Sacramento County CA as a Behavioral Health Peer Specialist. As a peer specialist, you will provide support and guidance to individuals and families affected by behavioral health issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide peer support and guidance to individuals and families affected by behavioral health issues.
  • Share recovery stories and experiences to help others understand the recovery process.
  • Identify wellness goals and develop plans to achieve them.
  • Provide emotional support and connect individuals with community resources.

Requirements

  • Currently or previously a consumer of behavioral health services, or a parent or family member/caregiver of a behavioral health consumer.
  • Ability to maintain client confidentiality and compose accurate records of services provided.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing situations.

Working Conditions

  • Exposure to emotionally disturbed or mentally ill persons and/or confrontational interpersonal situations.
  • Work in dangerous, high-crime areas of the community.
  • Work during non-routine hours, including evenings, holidays, and weekends.
  • Work outside in all types of climatic conditions.

Probationary Period

The probationary period for this classification is six (6) months.
