The Keene Family YMCA is a leading nonprofit organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.

We are seeking an experienced Swim Instructor to join our team. As an Aquatic Training Specialist, you will be responsible for instructing group classes in a safe and enjoyable environment that promotes member wellness and engagement.

Job Summary:

  • Supports the work of the Y by building members' and the community's understanding of the YMCA's cause and impact.
  • Instructs group classes in a culturally aware and positive environment that promotes member wellness and engagement.
  • Provides exceptional customer service to members, participants, volunteers, and guests.

Responsibilities:

  1. Build personal and meaningful relationships with members, participants, volunteers, and guests.
  2. Knows and reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately.
  3. Maintains accurate records as required by the YMCA and/or the state Health Department code.
  4. Performs equipment checks and ensures appropriate equipment is available as needed.
  5. Attends all staff meetings and in-service training.

Requirements:

  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Certifications: CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid.
  • Current YMCA certified Swim Instructor/trainer, YMCA Water Safety instructor/trainer.
  • Ability to maintain certification-level of physical and mental readiness.

Physical Demands:

  1. Hear noises and distress signals in the aquatic environment, including in the water and anywhere around the zone of responsibility.
  2. Meet strength and lifting requirements.
  3. Must be able to lift 60 pounds alone and may request assistance to pull victims out of the pool.

Salary Range: $45,000 - $55,000 per year based on experience and qualifications.
