Summary:
The Quality Assurance Technician (Night Shift) brings years of analytical expertise in both laboratory and manufacturing settings. Proficiency with HPLC, spectrophotometers, alcolyzers, and other analytical equipment used in the evaluation of distilled products and ingredients is advantageous. Knowledge of microbiological testing methodologies is also beneficial. Prior experience in a production laboratory that supports on-site manufacturing and processing departments is essential. Experience with managing non-conforming goods is required.
Purpose of Role:
As a key member of the plant quality team, the Quality Assurance Technician is tasked with ensuring that production adheres to the established standards and quality control systems necessary for the safe production of high-quality distilled products that meet industry standards. This role will primarily focus on:
- Leading quality initiatives during the shift
- Conducting microbiological tests on water, distilled products, and ingredients
- Executing process audits to ensure compliance with Global Risk Management and North American Standards
- Inspecting raw materials to verify conformity with product specifications
- Performing sensory evaluations of in-process products, finished goods, and ingredients
- Carrying out analytical tests on process products, finished goods, and ingredients to confirm adherence to specifications
Management Responsibilities:
- This position reports to the Quality Team Lead. Additionally, the technician is expected to develop an understanding of the calibration, maintenance, and basic repair of testing equipment used for quality analysis in both the laboratory and production environments. They will also contribute their technical knowledge to resolve operational issues and engage in cross-functional teams.
Complexity of Role:
- This role requires close collaboration with other shift Quality Technicians and Operations Team Members to support accurate product and ingredient analysis through the use of testing equipment. The ability to quickly assess issues and provide timely solutions is crucial for maintaining a seamless production flow. Effective multitasking and prioritization skills are essential for success in this position.
Outputs/Deliverables:
- Development, implementation, and upkeep of an asset care program for testing equipment, encompassing maintenance, calibration, repair, and replacement
- Documentation of procedures to ensure consistent operation of testing equipment
- Defining requirements and training Quality Technicians in basic troubleshooting of equipment
- Conducting microbiological testing and analysis according to company-defined protocols
- Providing Quality Technician coverage as needed
- Achieving assigned quality objectives
Skills:
- Ability to analyze problems and offer logical solutions

- Capability to manage multiple tasks effectively
Education:
- Degree/Diploma in Science or Engineering preferred, or 3-5 years of analytical experience in a laboratory or manufacturing environment
- Familiarity with HPLC, spectrophotometers, alcolyzers, and other analytical equipment used in the evaluation of distilled products and ingredients is a plus
- Knowledge of microbiological testing methodologies is advantageous
- Prior experience in a production laboratory that directly supports on-site manufacturing and processing departments is preferred. Familiarity with non-conforming product management is beneficial.
