Key Responsibilities:
The Patient Account Representative (PAR) is tasked with executing specific billing functions, conducting follow-ups, resolving accounts, making adjustments, and performing scanning duties as necessary. This role collaborates with various departments to achieve both departmental and facility objectives. The PAR is accountable for resolving account discrepancies.
It is crucial to identify solutions to issues and keep management updated on trends related to payments or other concerns with specific payers. This position operates in a Hybrid model, requiring two days in the office and three days of remote work.
For inquiries about this role, please reach out to the Talent Acquisition Manager. The Patient Account Representative should possess comprehensive knowledge of billing practices, accounts receivable follow-up, timely filing protocols, and the capability to effectively analyze remittance advices and electronic billing reports from payers to determine necessary actions.
This position encompasses all related job functions as assigned.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Engage with third-party payers and guarantors through payer websites or phone calls to resolve outstanding account balances on assigned accounts.
- Address all correspondence within 24 hours of receipt.
- Document detailed notes regarding correspondence in the client’s system.
- Manage all denials and take appropriate actions to achieve account resolution.
- Submit appeals for all non-clinical denials as needed.
- Monitor denial trends and report findings to the supervisor.
- Bill or re-bill claims as required.
- Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations regarding billing and HIPAA.
- Complete assigned special projects within designated timeframes.
- Attend training sessions and seminars provided by the Client and Third-Party Payers.
- Accurately document each account worked in the client practice management system.
- Make necessary corrections in the client practice management system.
- Resolve or forward all address and/or plan changes as necessary to maintain the integrity of the insurance master.
- Update patient accounts with corrected demographic or insurance information.
- Post adjustments according to standard operating procedures or as directed by leadership.
- Handle all customer interactions, both internal and external, in a professional and courteous manner.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma / GED or 3 years of relevant equivalent experience in lieu of diploma/GED.
- 0-2+ years of experience in office, business, operations, customer service, or healthcare.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience with insurance portals.
- Proficiency in a Windows environment is required.
- Familiarity with desktop applications, including Word and Excel, is essential.
